Most loft beds — even the ones marketed as "solid wood loft beds" — are pine slabs held together with cam locks and lag bolts. They creak within a year and rack out of square within two. Ours is drawbored mortise-and-tenon at every joint, the way a barn frame is built.
The result is a wooden loft bed frame that stays dead silent under an adult sleeper, breaks down for moves, and looks like heirloom bedroom furniture rather than a dorm-room compromise.

Solid hard maple
8/4 hard maple posts and rails throughout — no veneer, no MDF, no engineered lumber. Walnut, white oak, and cherry available on request.
Drawbored mortise-and-tenon
Every rail-to-post joint is a through mortise and tenon, pinned with a hardwood peg. The joint pulls itself tighter over time rather than working loose.
Twin, full, or queen
A solid wood queen loft bed for adults, a full for teens, or a twin for kids — same joinery, same hardware, scaled to the mattress.
Low, mid, or high loft
40-inch, 52-inch, or 72-inch clearance. Tell us the ceiling height and what goes underneath — desk, dresser, sofa, or a floor bed for a sibling.
Integrated ladder
Angled hardwood ladder with rounded rungs, mortised into the end frame. Optional stair-step version with drawer storage for kids' rooms.

Are solid wood loft beds sturdy enough for adults?
Yes — this one is built for adult sleepers first and scaled down for kids. Rated well above 400 lb on the platform, zero wobble at the top rail.
Can I put a desk underneath?
Standard clearance is 60 inches — enough for a full desk plus a task lamp. Low- and high-loft variants are available for shorter or taller ceilings.
What sizes do you build?
Twin, twin XL, full, and queen. Queen is the most common adult request; twin and full are the standard kids' and teens' sizes.
How long does one take to build?
About six to eight weeks from deposit, shipping included. Rush schedules occasionally possible — ask.
